Want kid to follow in my footsteps; self-sufficient

Want kid to follow in my footsteps; self-sufficient

For most of my life I didn’t understand why people wanted to have kids.

It sounded like you were going to make an enormous sacrifice in your own life for the sake of other humans who may or may not give you anything back.

I thought about all the missed vacations and nights out on the town and shuddered. What’s the fun in that? I guess that this was a very selfish perspective to take. Now that I’m older, I honestly understand the appeal of having children… Especially when I consider passing on some of my own personal interests and characteristics to my kids. You see, I have two sons who I have been carefully training to follow in my heating, cooling, and ventilation footsteps. Specifically, I want them to know the ins-and-outs of modern indoor air temperature control equipment as much as possible. I don’t really care if they go on to become professional heating, cooling, and air quality control technicians like I did. However, I want them to be able to fend for themselves instead of relying on expensive professional services. This means, they should know how to maintain, diagnose, and even repair basic indoor air temperature control devices. If they are capable of troubleshooting their own heating, cooling, and ventilation machinery then they will never need to pay for a professional heating and cooling emergency repair service or live with the impending sense of doom that comes from a rapidly deteriorating HVAC system. Overall, I just want my boys to be self-sufficient when it comes to keeping themselves and their families comfortable, if they also decide to have kids.
