My mom was yelling at me but I couldn’t hear her over the A/C

We have a super loud A/C system in our house.

When the air conditioning is running, you can’t really hear much of anything. This is especially true if you happen to be sitting near an air vent or the air return. Well, last week that turned into a big problem for us. My mom needed me to come and get something for her, but I couldn’t even hear her because of how loud the air conditioning was. She got so mad at me, even though I told her the reason that I couldn’t hear her was because of the A/C. She said that I was ignoring her on purpose, which wasn’t true at all – at least that time, anyway. She said that I was just making excuses and that there was no way that the A/C could be that loud. I guess she had never been in my room before when the air conditioning kicked on. I decided to do an experiment and I had her come to my room and sit on my bed. Then I went to the thermostat and turned on the A/C. My mom nearly jumped off the bed when the A/C kicked on and the roar came flying out of the air vents. She finally heard how loud it sounded and she realized that she had been made at me for nothing. Then the very next day she called up the HVAC company to have them come out and do an air conditioning repair for us. She said that there was just no reason that our central A/C unit should be making that much noise. I really hope they can come and fix it and quieten it down for us!
