The Old Instructional Tape
I like to do a lot of shopping at thrift stores.
- You can find all kinds of awesome vintage stuff over there.
If I was to tell you all the great vintage stuff I found over there for dirt cheap, I would be writing a novel! Plus, it would very much blow your mind. But, what I will tell you about was this interesting cassette tape I found recently. It was some kind of very old heating and air conditioning company educational tape. It was meant for new HVAC specialists that had just been hired by this obscure heating and air conditioning company. Listening to it was really a trip! For instance, they were talking about the installation of a basic central heating and air conditioning system as if it were the most complex thing in the world! At this time, the whole concept of central heating and air conditioning was not something everyone had. So, on this tape, they were talking about “in the event you get an installation for a central heating and air conditioning system…”, which, that line cracked me up! Today, just about every single HVAC installation is going to be a central heating and air conditioning system! The tape did not have a year or a date on it. But, based on the background music, and based on the HVAC terms used, I am going to guess it was some time in the very early 1980’s. This tape was a real treat. It goes to show just how much HVAC technology has advanced today.
