Over the weekend, I built an amphibian habitat

We also needed to find a few heating rocks for the terrarium

This past weekend, I finally built a frog habitat for my kid. She had been asking me and my wife to get her a frog for a few years. Up until that point, I felt that she wasn’t ready for the responsibility, because frogs are one of the hardest creatures to keep alive in captivity. At least, that’s what I discovered when I researched keeping frogs in captivity. My child insisted that there are certain frogs that are not difficult to keep alive, but of course, she might be a little biased when she tells me such things. She wanted some sort of rainforest tree frog. I’m not sure why she couldn’t be satisfied with simply catching a frog outside in our yard and making it her pet instead. She just insists on making everything complicated. Anyway, she finally got the frog that she’d always wanted, and I was helping her set up the frog habitat. I didn’t realize the frog would need so many different specific accommodations. It would seem the most important one was the temperature of the habitat. There’s a special thermostat that we needed to attach to the tank to make sure that it doesn’t get too hot or too cold. We also needed to find a few heating rocks for the terrarium. It is somewhat annoying that we are spending so much money for just a tiny little frog. However, I do appreciate my daughter’s enthusiasm, and I hope that we will be able to take care of it for a long time to come.
