We never set the smart thermostat to learn mode
Sometimes I think that my husband and I are incapable of taking care of ourselves.
Don’t get me wrong, we do a fine job holding full-time positions and navigating our public lives like real, functional adults. However, a lot of things that take place behind closed doors are absolutely ridiculous. We can be so spacey and stupid at times, it hurts to even admit some of our mistakes. Most recently, we decided that we were going to stop paying so much money for our high energy bills by changing our thermostat. Not only were the thermostat settings way too demanding for our extremely old heating, cooling, and air quality control system, but the thermostat itself could use an upgrade. We decided to have a professional heating, cooling, and ventilation technician install a brand-new smart air temperature control device in our house so that the temperature control equipment could be more easily regulated with energy-efficient settings that we did not have to worry about. Lord knows, we do not need more heating and cooling problems to worry about – we’re trying to simplify our indoor air quality management. After the heating, cooling, and air quality control technician installed our brand-new temperature control device we were very excited to see a change on our upcoming energy bill. Unfortunately, the change went in the wrong direction and our energy bill actually increased. Just as I was about to call the local heating and cooling repair shop to complain about our smart thermostat, my husband realized that we never actually set the thermostat to “learn” mode. It was never programmed at all.
