Mom insisted we add an air purifier since we had cats in the house
Look, one thing we forget when we get married is we are merging two different communities.
This is something my then fiance and I realized as we were planning our wedding.
We come from different parts of the country, and met working in the same city. Everything was good for us, and we knew we wanted to get married. So, my fiance proposed and I naturally agreed to be his wife. However, that felt like the last day we were happy, because planning the wedding was a nightmare. Our parents had strong beliefs about the ceremony and that is how we ended up eloping. They were mad we did that, but it cut down the noise and disagreements. We then moved into a house we loved, and adopted 3 cats. It took my mom a year to come and visit because she was still mad at me. But, eventually she came around when I informed her I was pregnant. Mom came and she was quick to give advice about our home including suggesting we get an air purifier since we had cats in our home. We were looking into whole-home air purifiers before she mentioned this, and I let her know the same. Mom said that was good and we should hurry up and get the air purifier in place before the baby arrives. She also insisted we get the HVAC system in our home inspected before we bring the baby home. I should mention that my mom owns a HVAC business back home so I knew her advice was solid. It’s just hard to take it when all she gives is criticism.
