Why are doctor’s offices so cold?

The other day I had to visit the doctor’s office for a routine medical check-up.

While I was waiting for the doctor I noticed that the temperature in the waiting room was a lot colder than what I was used to.

I was frustrated because I had a lot of other things to do that day, but the doctor was taking his sweet time. It seems to me that every time you are in a hurry to finish something, it always takes twice as long. I’m not sure why that is. I suppose staring at the clock watching every second tick by is probably the easiest way to make the minutes drag on forever. Then again, doctors are never on time anyway. Anyway, when I was sitting there in the waiting room I realized that the air conditioner had not turned off ever since I had sat down. I don’t know much about air conditioners, but I do know that they eventually cycle off once the room has reached the desired temperature. It just seemed to be stuck permanently in the on position or something. I started to feel colder and colder until I realized I was directly below the air vent. I changed seats to an area that was marginally warmer. After a moment, I realized that I wasn’t sure if the extremely cold temperature in the waiting room was a deliberate choice on the part of the office staff to keep germs under control or what. Although, the ironic thing is, I wasn’t sick when I walked in, but I may be sick when I walk out!
