Please Body Give me Just one More Year of Beach Volleyball

Well, I managed to survive 29 years of playing competitive beach volleyball.

I think this past summer was the most fun I’ve had yet playing the sport.

But, along with the fun comes the injuries. I guess it’s the Yin and the Yang at work. I’m still hurting a few months after summer ended from all of the playing I did. I bet I played 500 games this past summer. I just need to heal this left shoulder which I tore a bit from my crazy skyball serve. I’m getting a shot of cortisone in my elbow also to stop the pain. I like cooling my body down after playing, by sitting in an ice bath in a very cold air conditioned bathroom for 30 minutes. I think cold water is very therapeutic for the body for many different reasons, try it. Don’t get me wrong, I also like being nice and warm in front of my furnace in the wintertime. It’s just as important to warm up the body as it is to cool it down. Remember, Yin and Yang? I can still remember my mom’s old oil furnace in our first house that had a button we pushed many times to ignite the pilot light. It seems like the pilot light would go out several times a day for some odd reason. Thank God for technology and electric heating for houses, where there are no more pilot lights to blow out. But we still had a pilot light for our hot water heater in my last flat. Some things never change.
