My dirty air filter was downright embarrassing
I had to call the HVAC company to come to my house last weekend because my heating and cooling system had completely stopped working for some reason. I really don’t know all that much about things like heating and air conditioning systems. I don’t really have that much of a mechanically inclined mind, and so I just about always have to call a professional for things like that. I do wish that I knew how to do things like that around my house, because I know it would save me a whole lot of money and time. But the fact remains that I don’t know how to do anything around the house and I mostly blame my parents because they didn’t know how to do anything at their house either! I was never taught to do things like change the batteries in my thermostat or my smoke detector or to change the air filters in my furnace or air conditioning system. And normally, even with that upbringing, I do okay. However, when my heating system stopped working last weekend, I have to admit that I was at a loss. It sounded like the heating system was running, but no warm air was coming out of any of the heating vents at all. It was a mystery to me. I called up my local heating and cooling company and they sent someone right over because they weren’t busy that day. The HVAC technician had the problem figured out in less than 5 minutes. Apparently,I had never changed my air filter once since I had moved into the house. It was so clogged up with dust and dirt and grime that no air could get through it!
