A/C tips for the summer

If you need some A/C tips for the upcoming summer, here are a few for you to look at.

The first thing that you should probably do is check to make sure that the batteries in your thermostat unit are working correctly.

A lot of times, I know that people forget all about the batteries in their thermostats or even the fact that thermostats have batteries! This can definitely cause an issue with your air conditioning during the summer months if your thermostat isn’t working the way it is supposed to. Next, I would suggest checking your windows and doors to make sure that they all seal correctly and that they don’t have any gaps or cracks in them. So many times, the cooling air from your A/C unit can go sneaking right through the cracks in your doors and windows. As my dad used to say sometimes, we sure don’t want to air condition the entire neighborhood! I personally found out last year that my storm door doesn’t latch correctly. Who knows how much extra air conditioning I wasted by letting it get out the kitchen door into the heat outside! I bet my air conditioning bills could have been cut in half if I had only known sooner. Once you check your thermostat and your windows and doors, make sure that you clear away all of the grass, leaves, and debris from your outside A/C unit. If it’s surrounded by long grass or vines, they could get sucked into the compressor and cause issues with your air conditioning.
