My kids offered the HVAC technician some cookies they made

When I got home from work one day, the whole kitchen was a mess.

There were pots and pans all over the place and all kinds of chocolate chips and flour on the floor. The thing that really bothered me was the fact that the house was so blazing hot. I looked at the thermostat and it was 89 degrees in the house! I then noticed that some of the windows were open and there was a burnt food smell in the house. Then some of my kids came to me with some cookies on a plate. They said they worked hard to surprise me and they baked a bunch of batches of cookies. They said they kept burning the cookies so they kept making new batches until they were right. So that was the burnt smell I was smelling. I asked what happened with the A/C. They said that they turned up the A/C a lot because the stove was making the house feel overheated. Then they said they heard a loud strange noise and the A/C quit working. They said they tried to get the thermostat to work, but nothing happened. That’s when they decided to open the windows to let some of the heat out. I ended up having to call up the HVAC company, but I wasn’t mad at them for trying to surprise me with cookies. I just hope they learned how to make cookies better without burning them. The ones that I tried were a little well done, but they weren’t too bad. They even offered the HVAC technician a few cookies when he showed up. He actually took a few.
