Double Heating And Cooling Options For My HVAC
I have an interesting set up over here for my heating and air conditioning.
If you would believe it, I actually have two forms of heating and air conditioning in my house to chose from.
I have the regular central heating and cooling system, and then I also have a steam boiler and a few ductless mini split air conditioning systems. The way I am able to handle all of them, is that I use whichever ones are going to be the best in terms of energy use. Now, naturally and technically, the steam boiler and the ductless mini split air conditioning system are going to be the best in terms of energy. However, that isn’t always the case depending on the time of year it is. Because with the ductless mini split air conditioning systems I have, they all have to be running if it’s really hot outside, that kind of defeats the whole point of the energy savings. If I was to just crank the central air conditioning system that time of the year, sure, it will use a heck of a lot of energy, but it will cost about the same. And, in some cases, it may even cost a little less to run the central air conditioning system verse the bunch of ductless mini split air conditioning systems. Same thing with the steam boiler. That is one of the oldest and greatest forms of heating out there. However, if I have to really crank the living heck out of it to get it to cool my home, my central heating and do it better, and for just a little more energy use.
