Looking to improve the heating
I would like to tell you about a bit of a close call our roommate and I had over the last winter, but if you recall, it was the coldest Winter time on record around these places in the world, and had a lot more snow than all of us normally get! My roomie and I are consistently prepared for a cold snap, however I have to admit all of us were not prepared at all for something of this magnitude; First all of us lost power, after that I found our vehicles were snowed in, trapped, and unable to get into town.
We could leave the house, but it was too far to walk anywhere.
We later learned that needed electricity for all of your heating sources is the same thing as putting all your eggs in 1 basket; When the tote breaks you lose everything, which in case instance meant a complete and total lack of heating. All of us covered up the windows with blankets and secured ourselves in the smallest room in the home a full effort to use our own trapped body heating for warmth. It worked I guess, but it also didn’t smell good and the bad air quality had us seeking other paths to work out! This year all of us will not make the same mistake, all of us have a couple new possibilities when it comes to heating systems in the winter. This year even if all of us lose power all of us have enough wood for the furnace to keep us warm for the time being. I am also looking at replacing our cheap central gas furnace with one that runs of natural gas instead of electricity.
