I love the wood burning stove in the cabin
When my grandfather bought this property I was thrilled! We could finally build the hunting cabin he had talked about for so long.
Of course, we didn’t build the cabin ourselves.
Grandpa is too old and the only thing I ever built was a box in woodshop. However, we had the cabin built by a company that comes out and puts together a prefabricated cabin. It was not super expensive. However, it doesn’t come with any of the bells and whistles either. There is no plumbing, no electricity, and no internet. We had a well dug and an outhouse. Grandpa said it was all just like his house when he was a kid. The cabin even has a wood burning stove to keep us warm. I can chop wood and I actually find it relaxing. My mom keeps telling Grandpa that I will grow tired of the cabin and that he shouldn’t have bought it because it is too much work for him. Mom is wrong. I think I love this cabin more than Grandpa does, I think. This living off of the land, even for just a weekend, is something I could never grow tired of. I especially really like the wood burning stove. There is something nice about sitting next to it. Hearing the wood crackle, seeing the glow, and feeling the incredible warmth is just something you don’t get from central heat. I find it to be very relaxing. It is so nice to get away from “normal” life for a bit. To leave behind all of that technology and just enjoy life as it has been for hundreds of years.
