Removing the broken fireplace

Removing the broken fireplace

We had a real problem in our house recently.

You see, we have one of those really old fireplaces in here, and the thing is broken.

It doesn’t work right at all. We have been wanting to get the fireplace completely removed and blocked off. Turning the fireplace in the wall into normal walls of the home, so we can place other things there. We didn’t even use the fireplace when it kind of worked. We have central heating and air conditioning. So what was the point? This fireplace did not even look nice to use it for romantic evenings or even family holidays. It was just plain ugly! So, after doing some hunting around, we were able to find out what kind of professional we needed to call to have this fireplace completely removed. Once the fireplace was removed, we had to look into some serious home renovation to be able to convert the empty space in the wall into regular walls. Everything else we had sealed off when we first moved into the house, so that part was taken care of. This whole process was going to cost us several thousand dollars. But, it was something we just had to do. So we were going to make the investment to get rid of this fireplace once and for all, even if it ended up costing the family two zillion dollars! We may do what our friends did and buy an electric fireplace for show. But, if we were to do that, it would be in the distant future.
